MONTANA METH PROJECT:

Putting "money where the meth is" in Montana yielded a huge drop in meth use by teens, when billionaire Thomas Siebel pumped millions of dollars into a statewide prevention campaign designed to reach teens at least three times a week with hard, often disturbing messages about Methamphetamine.

Meth related crime is also down 70 percent since the project launched in September, 2005.

Now, four other states—Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming and Illinois—are bringing the Montana Meth Project's campaign to their teens.

METH 360:

Meth360 is a free program of community powerpoint presentations that are delivered by those who have completed the online training offered on this site. The program’s goal is to unite communities in the fight against methamphetamine.  There are at least six presenters in the Yuba-Sutter area able to travel to make presentations to your group.  Click here for the link to their contact information.

FRONTLINE ON PBS: The Meth Epidemic

Frontline and the Portland Oregonian collaborated to investigate how and why meth use spiraled out of control and became the fastest-growing drug abuse problem in America.

Watch the program online and learn more about what Meth is and how it affects the body, mind and spirit of those who once chose to use.

ME NOT METH:

Here in California, the state is in the middle of The California Methamphetamine Initiative (CMI), a three-year statewide campaign to cut methamphetamine use, and get users to seek help.  Right now, the Me Not Meth campaign is aimed at gay and bisexual men, and other men who have sex with men (MSM).

"Methamphetamine use, particularly the association between methamphetamine use and HIV infection, is a serious public health concern in California,” says Cathy Reback, Ph.D., research sociologist at the Friends Research Institute, Inc., and the UCLA Integrated Substance Abuse Programs.

The $11 million “Me Not Meth” campaign includes television, outdoor and print advertisements designed to curb methamphetamine use by highlighting personal losses.

Other efforts include education for practitioners on promising practices in prevention and treatment and active collaboration with local efforts to address the growing methamphetamine problem in California.

ANTI-METH.ORG :

Founded by a recovering meth addict, Anti-Meth.Org is "a non-profit organization taking a stand against the drug Methamphetamine in Cleveland , GA. (White County) and in our surrounding communities of North Georgia." The group's goal is to "educate the public about the dangers of crystal meth and support local prevention , treatment and enforcement efforts ."

FACES OF METH:

The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office in Portland, Oregon literally put a face on Meth use with this comparison of how certain meth users looked over several arrests. The "Faces of Meth" became part of the Portland Oregonan's investigative report into Meth, there.
