READ THE APPEAL-DEMOCRAT'S SERIES ABOUT METH AND YUBA-SUTTER. Angela Fatino started using meth at the age of 12. That's her school picture on the left, and her school picture just one year later on the right. Angela's struggle with meth addiction ended when she shot herself with a handgun while on meth. She was 15. Meth screws with your brain. It floods your nervous system with dopamine, something your body naturally produces that makes you feel good. Problem is, once your system's been overloaded by meth, that's all you want. More of that feeling. And before you know it, you're doing things you'd have never imagined in order to get that feeling again. That's why we say, "Don't Start."
